Darren’s passion towards photography began at a relatively young age having initially picked-up a camera that belonged to his grandfather – an extremely decorated photographer in his own right. With an inquisitive mind coupled with an enthusiasm for surfing, Darren spent his formative days combining his two favourite pastimes, by photographing his mates ripping and tearing-up the pristine waves of Byron Bay. The uniqueness of his photography combined with his diligent application to his trade was seized by multi-award winning master photographer Steve Scalone. Here, Darren spent years perfecting his craft under Steves guidance, working on weddings, portraiture, studio and commercial work, along with editorial.
As a laidback, knockabout bloke, Darren decided to embark on a solo journey whereby his photography was shaped by his personality. Weddings, families and all things surfing have now become the cornerstone of his camerawork, with his profession regularly taking him interstate and overseas for photo-shoots.
Now based in the wedding mecca of northern New South Wales, Darren enjoys the best of both worlds, spending his time between the Hunter Valley and Noosa. His elaborate range of camera gear is always at the ready, with a surfboard and boardies never far from reach.
